Animal Dermatology Clinic is the largest group of veterinary dermatologists in the world and is pleased to offer comprehensive dermatology services at Hope Advanced Veterinary Center – Rockville. Through a rigorous training program and board certification exam, veterinary dermatologists are specially trained to recognize hundreds of different types of skin and ear problems and aid in directing the right diagnostic and treatment plan. Established in 1980 Animal Dermatology Clinic has grown to a group of 24 board certified veterinary dermatologists with 10 residents and associates located across the US and in Australia. Our doctors are actively involved with research and advancement in their field. We continually strive to develop and refine innovative diagnostic tests, therapies and techniques.
Board certification in veterinary dermatology requires a doctorate in veterinary medicine and a three-year residency program. Following completion of the residency program, a rigorous board certification examination is taken. After successful completion of these requirements, a veterinarian becomes a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology. There are a fewer than 300 boarded veterinary dermatologists in the United States.
There are hundreds of different skin diseases currently recognized in companion animals. Many of these diseases look alike, with only subtle differences in clinical presentation and historical background. As specialists, our doctors are trained to recognize these differences and pursue an appropriate diagnostic and treatment plan. As an extension of your pet’s primary veterinarian’ care, we work closely with his or her office, providing regular feedback on all of our recommendations and treatment plans.
As leaders in the veterinary dermatology community, Animal Dermatology Clinic strives to provide the most advanced specialty care available. Our doctors and clinics are internationally recognized as being among the best that veterinary dermatology has to offer.
